Salette Andrews
City Councilmember, Wilmington
Salette Andrews is a decorated military veteran, small business owner, community volunteer, and councilmember. She is dedicated to helping Wilmington residents live in a safe, sustainable, affordable, and prosperous community.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Arizona, Salette received a commission as an officer in the United States Air Force, where she served as an Air Traffic Control Officer. She later earned a Master of Science degree from Mercer University School of Engineering and spent the bulk of her career as a technical communicator in the aerospace, semiconductor, and medical software industries. Since 2015, Salette has run a successful estate jewelry business.
In her volunteer life, Salette has served as a court-appointed special advocate (Guardian ad Litem), advocating for children involved in the court system. She has volunteered with several animal rescue organizations as a photographer, webmaster, foster parent, adoption counselor, and board member. Salette served on a historic preservation commission and was an elected councilmember in Arizona. She is a licensed Food for Life Instructor with the Physicians Committee for Responsible medicine and teaches evidence-based nutrition and cooking classes. She is a member of the League of Women Voters of the Lower Cape Fear, Cape Fear River Watch, the Cape Fear Sierra Club, the Cape Fear Housing Coalition, and the Womens Impact Network of New Hanover County.
Salette is married to her best friend, David Andrews, and together, they have three grown children, Virginia, Damon, and Sabrina, and four grandchildren, Orion, Max, Mariana, and Booth. Salette’s son Jesse, who served in the Army in Iraq, died in 2007 at the age of 22.
Salette and David share their home with their two rescued pit bulls, Rico and Stella.
