The National Digital Inclusion Alliance defines digital equity as the condition in which individuals and communities have the information technology capacity needed for full participation in our society, democracy, and economy.

Accomplishments
We host monthly discussions that bring together local, state, and national partners along with community-based organizations. These conversations facilitate the sharing of current initiatives, policy developments, and areas for improvement in the realm of digital equity. In response to immediate connectivity needs for the 2020 census, we distributed hotspots to various communities in eastern North Carolina, ensuring that individuals would have access to complete their 2020 Census form online. We have regranted $100,000 to 10 organizations serving 9 counties, directly supporting local efforts to enhance digital inclusion. These funds empower organizations to implement and sustain digital access and literacy programs in their communities.

By working to close the digital divide, we are not just connecting people to the internet but empowering them to engage fully in civic, economic, and social activities, driving forward a more inclusive and prosperous state.
