Healthier Together

Healthier Together is a public-private partnership between NC Counts Coalition and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services created in 2021.

This initiative leverages NC Counts Coalition’s census community organizing infrastructure and capacity building program to advance health equity in BIPOC communities in North Carolina.

Addressing Systemic Inequities

Inequities are driven by many factors that are rooted in centuries of systemic racism and structural inequity.

COVID-19 Accomplishments

Methods of outreach: door knocks, phone calls, literature drops, text messages or social media direct messages (ex. DMs), site/relational contacts, outreach events, with wrap-around services.

Capacity Building

Regranted $5,580,426

to 75 CBOs, 97% of which were BIPOC led, with an average budget size of $288,000.00. Grants were funded by NC DHHS, and state and national philanthropic organizations.

Regranted $2,142,000

to 80 NC Counts Coalition member CBOs to address North Carolina’s youth behavioral health crisis.

NC Counts’ support to CBOs included:

monthly health equity meetings; information, data, education and messaging tools; connections to county health departments and NC DHHS; communications training, and; support and guidance for organizational development, grant management, networking, and reporting.
